We will be offering various incentives to encourage both Crew and Cyclists to raise more than the minimum amount. With your registration, you have access to your very own customizable fundraising page, which will allow you to send out email requests for donations and to keep track of your progress toward your goal. If you have questions on fundraising, talk to your mentor who can help you get started.
We encourage you to start your fund-raising as soon as possible. If you have not met the minimum fundraising amounts of $2,000 for cyclists or $500 for crew by 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, you will need to self-donate the remaining amount (i.e. at least up to the minimum) with cash, cashier’s check, money order, or credit card. You will be allowed to continue to raise funds until Friday, June 24th, 2016.
If you are unable to self-donate up to the minimum on May 11th, 2016 and you are a cyclist and if you have raised at least $500, you may be able to join us as crew.
Our 4-day journey will take you through the beautiful Northern California landscape. You’ll share the experience with your fellow participants, realize a goal that you made for yourself months before, build camaraderie, and find friends and family that will last long after the ride ends.
While the route is challenging, it’s also invigorating. The road mixes with laughter, sweat, tears, and smiles. Your muscles will ache while your mind soars with the sense of accomplishment you are earning.
And when you roll back into Sacramento you’ll know that you’ve changed lives.

As amazing as the route itself is, however, the scenery is not what keeps participants returning year after year. Life on the road of NCAC involves team-work, camaraderie, dedication, and solidifying friendships. The day starts for some crew members as early as 4:30 a.m., when they wake up start the day off. Cyclists and most of the crew hits the road around 7 a.m. to head out in the cool of the mornings looking forward to the first rest stop of the day. Look closely, though. Cyclists have been met by surprise rest stops for a quick water-fill, some lovely looking hula dancers/bellydancing on the side of the roads, motivating music pumping from the speakers of a crew vehicle, crew dressed in prom-attire, super-hero costumes, and “luau” garb. There’s no telling what’s coming around the next corner!
Cyclists and crew receive detailed cue sheets each morning that points out every turn, marks each rest stop, and makes sure everyone gets to lunch! Turns and tricky spots are accompanied by any number of a dedicated (and omnipresent) motorcycle crew to make sure no one misses a step. Those motorcycles also carry water and communicate with the route coordinator should anyone need some extra assistance.
Some folks you want out there on the road with you but hope not to see too much are our Bike Tech who drives the route all day, and sets up a mobile “tune-up” shop in the evenings, and our Medical Crew, who also drive the route and make sure crew and cyclist alike can speak coherently and ride a straight line!
For the 2016 NorCal AIDS Cycle, Cyclists are required to raise at least $2,000 in donations to participate. Crew Members must raise $500.
Please remember that your $75 Registration Fee is not included in your fundraising total.
