NCAC 2026: Basecamp Model
Participants will stay overnight at the Yuba/Sutter Fairgrounds!
Day 1: Yuba City or Bust - Beals Point to Yuba City
≈ 76 miles & ≈ 3000 ft of climbing
Kick off NCAC the right way with a beautiful start by the water in Beals Point, followed by a gradual uphill cruise to Auburn for our first rest stop at Railhead Park. From Auburn, you'll do a bit more climbing and then lots of descending through vineyards to our second rest stop at the Placer County Fire Department in Lincoln. Work your way through the lightly traveled and scenic roads of Camp Far West that take in large views of grassland and water. We'll have lunch at the friendly Community Center in Wheatland as our last stop before continuing on to our overnight at the Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds. This day contains the climbing in the front third, followed by downhills and then mainly flattish terrain in the final half.
Day 2: The Queen Stage - Yuba City to Oroville & Back
≈ 98 miles & ≈ 2500 ft of climbing
Every multi-day professional cycling race has its Queen stage--the biggest and longest day. Be your best Queen on NCAC as you tackle the longest day up to the Oroville Dam and back. Start the day from the Fairgrounds and work your way through Marysville until the roads open up to farmland in the first 18 miles or so. Be safe by riding single file in small groups and staying to the right as the occasional farm truck will pass. Start gradually climbing up to the first rest stop in Bangor, with the final mile being the toughest pitch. After Bangor, you'll cruise along until you climb above the Oroville Dam. Then the descent down to Oroville begins with the dam spillway in full view for photos. Take in lunch in Oroville in the nicely renovated Hewitt Park. After lunch, it's flat as a flat can be but a bit exposed. Fingers crossed for tailwinds as you make your way to the final rest stop in Gridley and then on to the Fairgrounds to finish.
Day 3: I Like Big Buttes And I Cannot Lie - Yuba City All Around the Butte and Back
≈ 72 miles & ≈ 400 ft of climbing
After yesterday's feat, you are treated to a shorter ride with barely any climbing at all as you make your way around the big butte. You can see the butte the entire time with a first rest stop in Live Oak, followed by lunch in Meridian at a sweet local little league field. Wrap up this day with a final stop in Tarke, and a possible surprise cafe stop in Sutter too. Enjoy the big butte views as you cruise along on quiet roads while you roll back into camp and relax before Friends and Family Night.
Day 4: A Capitol Ride - Yuba City to Sacramento Capitol
≈ 58 miles & ≈ 360 ft of climbing
You are almost there! One more ride to get to the finale in Sacramento. This flat ride is a nice way to wrap up your achievement, including a cruise on bike paths for the final third. We'll have our first rest stop at the Four Corners Market, our second rest stop at the Fire Department in Pleasant Grove with their kind and helpful firefighters, and a check-in when you join the bike path in Elverta. Once off the bike path, we'll regroup in Fremont Park in Sacramento before we line up for our victory ride to the Capitol's West Steps. Enjoy the final ride with new and old friends and we'll see you with the cheering crowd in Sacramento!
Since we will be staying in the same location multiple nights, you’ll have plenty of time to rest, relax in our Camp Lounge or get a massage from Cyclists Massage!
